Mission

The mission of the Philippine Science High School International Alumni Foundation, Inc. (Pisayian) is to foster fellowship and community among international alumni of the Philippine Science High School, in order to

  1. promote the education and the advancement of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and to encourage collaborative work among educators, scientists and engineers in research, development, and implementation; and

  2. support interaction among individuals of Philippine descent in their scholarly, educational and scientific endeavors.

Pisayian continues to support its mission by identifying PSHS alumni who have expertise in Science and Technology (S&T) fields, by establishing a unified system to solicit and collect donations to benefit PSHS, and by supporting STEM education through networking, mentoring and educational activities that leverage the expertise and experience of alumni and friends around the world.

As an international chapter of the PSHS National Alumni Association, Pisayian has established an online platform, Pisay Network, that will help connect and track alumni around the world, and promote fellowship and support for both the alumni community as well as the PSHS community.

Established in 1963 through the Philippine Republic Act (R.A.) 3661, PSHS started in the Diliman, Quezon City campus with about 100 students who were offered scholarships to attend the five-year high school program focused on preparing the students for a career in the sciences. The PSHS System is an agency of the Philippine Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

Today the PSHS System is composed of 15 regional campuses in addition to the Main Campus and has about 2,000 graduates each year from all 16 campuses. Also affectionately called "Science", "PhilSci", and "Pisay", PSHS is considered as the premier secondary educational institution in the Philippines and a leading science research high school in Asia. All PSHS students are scholars -- envisioned and prepared through a rigorous curriculum to become globally competitive Filipino scientists equipped with 21st century skills, and imbued with the core values of truth, excellence, and service to nation. The PSHS System offers an education that is humanistic in spirit, global in perspective, and patriotic in orientation. It is based on an educational program that emphasizes science and mathematics and the development of well-rounded individuals. Pisay Scholars from all the different PSHS campuses have competed in many international competitions. Year after year, the Pisay scholar consistently receives various awards and international accolades -- competing not just for oneself, but to bring honor to the school, the country and its people.
